I celebrated the day with a low key intimate dinner with 2 beautiful ladies I’m blessed to have as friends. People are still exercising healthy social distancing so there was no need for me to make this a big deal and invite so many people. That would make some of my friends uncomfortable with having to be in close proximity with others in a restaurant or anything like that, but next year I’m hoping for hugs, kisses, and a bigger hang out with friends and loved ones!
My family spoiled me with video calls and many many heartwarming text messages, and then there were those phone calls and darling voicemails from dear friends in different cities, states, and overseas too, so I feel blessed and grateful.
Shout out to my Facebook friends and families who know how to make a girl feel special, thank you!!

This year has been full of unexpected twists and turns to say the least.
I have a rant to express my thoughts on some of it so kindly bear with me.
I feel grateful to be alive to celebrate another birthday, so many people cannot do so this year and my heart and prayers go out to every family grieving currently.
I started out the year with many booked plans of goals and things to check off my bucket list and by March I was ready to start executing and BAM! The Coronavirus had spread and my city ( New York City) became like a war-zone full of dead bodies.
It really got tragic and so many people have lost their lives. Families and friends are mourning deaths this year. Which made no absolute sense that the original pandemic of racism would still be in full effect as more people of color kept getting killed at the hands of those who are supposed to protect the people as if the COVID 29 was not devastating enough for everyone right?
The good thing is, many more brave men, women, and children ALL OVER THE WORLD have now stood up to the racism pandemic whether by protesting, by voting, or by making calls to offices of authorities to demand justice, I salute each and everyone in the fight.
I also protested alongside my fellow New Yorkers to stand up for what I believe, that people who look like me and get discriminated unfairly because God gave us this sweet, chocolate brown looking skin, MATTER.
We all, people of all ethnic groups, spoke up for the silent, fearful, timid people that choose to keep shut yet they say they believe in justice and peace, so the rest of us all over the world continue to shout ToGeThEr on the streets that
BLACK LIVES MATTER.
I made my plans for 2020 and God looked at it and said pause, there are more important things to tend to this year, so I’ve been humbled. I paused and got my hands dirty to get involved by working as an essential worker or joining in the fight against racism whether in conversation, by listening to learn more about how I can take more actions (because love is an action) as part of the change for peace or in speaking up about it without fear because my God has not given me a spirit of timidity.
I am blessed because I can still see my family and friends and love them and people in general, with actions and not mere words.
I need to cherish people more, especially because tomorrow is not promised and we all will have a last day someday.
I celebrate this year in this bright yellow outfit for the brighter days to come. 🙂
