First I need to learn their language before I can even possibly begin to impress them, right?
Seriously though, have you spoken to a hardcore British person before? Did you understand them at first listen or did it take you a slew of listens later like me?
I mean, I love their accents but truly have no earthly idea what they’re saying half the time hahaha!
So here’s the gist, I finally visited London for the first time and for London’s Fashion Week, yay!! I felt pretty stoked about the trip and could not wait to see the fab creations some blossoming fashion designers prepared to showcase on the fashion runways and stages.
In this photo, it was my second day there and I felt totally excited about every little thing up to that point. Things like seeing their local red buses everywhere got me so thrilled, or other things like hearing the people’s beautiful accents, even though I would absolutely get lost in translation haha.
For real, the language barrier surprised me a bit because even though they spoke English like me, I did not anticipate not understanding what they said. Oh and don’t let it be someone who spoke fast oh no, I’d just stare at them like a deer in headlights, in complete bewilderment.
I typically had to ask each person to repeat themselves; from a cashier in the store to the stranger on the street I needed directions from, and as each person spoke, I marveled at the fact that their words literally sounded like a whole new language.
So funny how a mere accent could easily flip a common language upside down, making it incomprehensible to a foreign listener like me.
Anywho! Back to fashion, I’m loving this plaid coat I bought just for this trip. Since I did a terrible job at understanding their accents, I could at least try to impress them with my style right?
I really wanted to impress my London fashionistas while out and about to see the different fashion shows, so I styled my green coat by highlighting the pops of the yellow found in its pattern by using this yellow purse and then added the red booties into the fun colorful mix.
